Best coastal paint colors

One of my favorite elements to use to completely change the feel of a room is paint. With a roll of a brush, you can move across decades and through styles. If you’ve been here before, you know my style leans towards contemporary, neutral coastal style in main gathering areas of the home (kitchen, living room, dining room) and a little pop of color in the bedrooms. So I’ve played around with quite a few options across different color palettes. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Whites:

  • Simply White

  • Chantilly Lace

  • White Dove

  • Swiss Coffee

OFF-WHITES:

  • Seapearl

  • Pale Oak

  • Gray Owl

  • Natural Cream

Blues:

  • Hale Navy

  • Newburyport Blue

  • Indi Go-Go

  • Old Blue Jeans

Teals:

  • Thousand Oceans

  • Caribbean Teal

  • Sea Star

  • Ocean Air

GREENS:

  • Cushing Green

  • Carolina Gull

  • Beach Glass

  • Bath Salts

Pinks & Peaches:

  • Sausalito Sunset

  • Sunlit Coral

  • Juno Peach

  • Coastal Cottage

Picking out paint colors is easiest when you have a general sense of the home’s style. Are you doubling down on monochromatic neutrals? Excited about pops of Key West pastels? Whatever your coastal style, the best way to ensure your paint choices are lasting is by getting samples. Recently, I’ve been using Samplize (not an ad, just love it). Overnight, you can get large peel and stick samples. When you narrow down your choices, order a few of the same colors and put them on all the walls in your room - that way, you can see how the light changes the colors. And take peeks throughout the day - do you still like it at dusk? At night? In lamp light versus daylight? I’ve chosen the above colors based on these types of questions, and they haven’t steered me wrong yet.
